December meeting with speaker on “Fake News”

Fake news has been brought front and center by last years presidential election. But fake news is not something that was started in 2016. It started far earlier and the reasons for it’s use from early times of recorded history to modern times will be explored. They will be merged with modern technology and social media and how it impacts us today.

Speaker: Robert Tornabene, Niles Police Department (IL)

Robert Tornabene is a law enforcement officer working with the Niles Illinois Police Department. In his 24 years in Law Enforcement Robert has worked in patrol, investigations and administration is presently serving in the capacity of Commander supervising the Crime Prevention Bureau. Robert serves in the capacity of Public Information Officer for the Niles Police Department. Current president of the Northern Illinois Public Information Officers Association.
